About the Directors
Brook Ballantyne
Director / Investigator
With over 17 years of experience in the private investigation industry, I’ve built a career across fraud and theft investigations, surveillance operations, tracing, and desktop intelligence. I’ve worked with insurers, government agencies (such as ACC, Serious Fraud Office and Commerce Commission), corporates, and private clients, both in New Zealand and internationally.
I specialise in insurance fraud investigations and complex case analysis, with a focus on direct claim investigations, pattern identification, and actionable intelligence. My work spans from exposing organised fraud networks to handling sensitive claims involving serious injury or sudden death.
I bring a methodical, technology-driven approach—combining desktop intelligence, surveillance (physical and digital), forensics, and detailed factual inquiries.
Whether I’m reviewing financials, conducting interviews, or advising on prevention opportunities, I aim to deliver accurate, evidence-based results that protect assets and reduce losses.
Brook is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Private Investigators (NZIPI) and the World Association of Detectives (WAD), reflecting his commitment to ongoing professional standards and international investigative practice.

Nigel Rundle
Director / Investigator
Nigel is a licensed private investigator and co-director of GTI. He brings a solid background in law enforcement and private-sector investigations, with experience spanning tactical crime work, insurance fraud, factual inquiries, and complex case management.
He began his investigative career with the New Zealand Police, where he spent several years in frontline and specialist roles, including time in the Tactical Crime Unit, investigating volume crime. His policing work developed his strengths in interviewing, evidence gathering, decision-making under pressure, and managing investigations from first response through to prosecution.
After leaving the Police, Nigel moved into private investigations with a focus on insurance fraud and factual inquiries. He has worked on a broad range of matters involving suspicious claims, theft, liability disputes, tracing, and cross-border enquiries. His approach is careful, practical, and detail-driven — producing clear, balanced findings that clients can rely on.
At GTI, Nigel oversees investigations throughout New Zealand and internationally, ensuring each matter is handled with professionalism, discretion, and proper legal compliance. He continues to work as a hands-on investigator, regularly conducting interviews, reviewing evidence, visiting scenes, and preparing comprehensive reports for insurers, legal professionals, and corporate clients.
Nigel is a member of the World Association of Detectives (WAD), reflecting his commitment to ongoing professional standards and international investigative practice.
