Employment Vetting Services
Independent, consent-based employment integrity checks for better hiring decisions
Hiring the wrong person into a trusted role can create financial loss, reputational damage, operational disruption, and risk to clients, staff, systems, or assets.
General & Travel Investigations Limited (GTI) provides independent employment vetting services for employers, recruitment firms, and organisations that require greater confidence before appointing staff, contractors, executives, or people in trusted-access positions.
Our role is to help clients verify relevant information, identify integrity risks, and make informed, defensible decisions.
Who we help
GTI’s employment vetting services are designed for organisations hiring or appointing people into roles involving trust, responsibility, access, or influence.
This may include roles involving:
financial authority or access to funds;
client money, data, or confidential information;
management, executive, or governance responsibility;
procurement, supplier, or vendor influence;
system administration or privileged IT access;
fleet, property, stock, equipment, or asset control;
sole-charge or remote work responsibilities;
public-facing, client-facing, or reputation-sensitive duties.
Our clients include employers, recruitment companies, professional service firms, SMEs, large organisations, and other entities with formal vetting requirements.
What we do
GTI conducts consent-based enquiries to verify information and identify matters relevant to the role or engagement under consideration.
Depending on the agreed scope, enquiries may include:
identity and background consistency checks;
Ministry of Justice criminal conviction history checks;
employment history and timeline review;
education, qualification, licence, and registration verification;
referee or reference enquiries;
credit, finance, insolvency, or bankruptcy-related checks, where relevant;
property, company, directorship, shareholder, or business-interest checks;
Personal Property Securities Register checks;
sanctions and politically exposed person checks;
adverse media checks;
open-source and social media checks;
conflict-of-interest checks;
supplier, vendor, competitor, or related-party exposure checks;
international enquiries, where required.
All enquiries are conducted with consent and are scoped according to the role, risk profile, and lawful purpose of the engagement.
Service Tiers
Basic
A desk-based employment vetting check with no direct interview by GTI.
This tier is suitable where the client requires a structured review of relevant records, disclosures, and open-source information before progressing an appointment.
Basic may include identity checks, criminal conviction history checks, employment narrative review, qualification or licence verification, adverse media, social media, sanctions, PEP screening, business-interest checks, and other agreed desk-based enquiries.
Extensive
A more detailed vetting process that includes the Basic enquiries plus a direct interview with the applicant or person of interest.
This tier is suitable for roles involving greater responsibility, access, authority, or reputational risk.
The interview allows GTI to clarify disclosures, address inconsistencies, discuss role-relevant matters, and provide the client with a clearer view of any unresolved issues, explanations, or considerations.
Custom
A tailored vetting service for high-trust, executive, sensitive, international, or complex appointments.
Custom vetting may include all Basic and Extensive components, together with bespoke enquiries such as international verification, enhanced conflict-of-interest mapping, overseas partner enquiries, procurement or vendor exposure review, executive due diligence, or other role-specific enquiries.
